This is a great app for randomly calling on students in class.  The students will be so excited to see who is picked if you download this on your iPad and put it  up on the projector!  It will also group students for you either randomly or based on criteria that you enter.  You can also associate a picture with each student.  The best part is it’s FREE!

Tell a Tale

Tell a Tale is a great app to use when starting a writing lesson.  It gives students a chance to have fun with writing and use their imagination.  It is for two or more students.  Students are given an opening sentence, three pictures, and a closing sentence.  They have to make up a "tale" using these items.  Students take turns coming up with their own creative "tales".  Download it, and try it out!

Need to get some information posted online quickly?  Twitter is normally a great way to do this. What if the message you need to get out is more that 140 characters though?  Don't have time to make changes to your website or blog?  No problem!  Go to heypasteit.com and put your information in.  They will create a unique URL you can post for your online followers to get your message.  It's as easy as 1-2-3!

Glogster

Have you ever tried Glogster?  I heard about it a couple of years ago at a workshop, and I had forgotten about it.  I came across it the other day again and forgot what a great tool it can be in the classroom.  Teachers can use this to create informational posters which include images, videos, and text.  It can be used to help students review concepts taught in class.  They can access it from anywhere they have internet access.  Teachers could also have students create "glogs" as an assessment tool.  Students will love showing what they know in this digital format.  I think this would be a great presentation tool for students also.  I created a basic glog just for practice that you can check out here.

Yapp Yourself!

Remind101

Remind 101 is  safe way for teachers to text message students and stay in touch with parents. Free! Teachers never see students' phone numbers. Students never see theirs.  Students and parents sign up by sending a text message or email.  Whenever you want to get a message out to students/parents you are able to send everyone a message on their phone by entering ONE message (i.e... Math test this Friday, Don't forget that picture day is tomorrow!)  Let's say your principal said, "I want you to make 3 positive contacts this week".  With Remind101 that's super EASY!!!  Go to your first period class list.  Send one message to all of the parents who have signed up (i.e.... 1st period worked really hard in class today.  I am so proud of them!).  You send one message and all of your parents could receive it.  Another great thing about Remind101 is that it is strictly for YOU to send out messages.  There is no way for responses.  Check out the website for more information or download the app for your phone!
