Summer Reading Online

Summer is right around the corner!  While we want our students to enjoy some time off from school, wouldn't it be great for students to continue to work on some skills over the summer?  We Give Books is a great way to do just that!

Students can read books online anytime if they have  internet access, an email account and sign up on the website.  I have always been a fan of having a real book in my hands, but over the last year I have really started to read more using the Kindle app or other electronic forms.

There is also a free 10 week summer program to keep students reading all summer.  What a great idea!

Virtual Field Trips

With spring break just around the corner Tourwrist/Sphere is a great FREE app to download.

So many of us are planning family trips to lots of exciting places next week.  Why not take your class WITH you?  Now, we know this isn't possible, but with the app Tourwrist your students can feel like they are right where you were.

Come back and share a virtual field trip.  This app allows you take a 360 degree panoramic view of any location and upload it using your iPhone or iPad.  Stop along the way on your trip to check out historical sites, important landmarks, or any other interesting place that might spark the interest of your students.  If you are studying the Alamo and just happen to be heading to San Antonio next week, wouldn't it be cool to take the students on a virtual field trip of your visit?  Discussing habitats in Science?  A visit to any beach along the Gulf Coast could open up all kinds of discussions about this type of habitat.  The possibilities are endless.

Not visiting anywhere "monumental" this spring break?  Don't worry.  Touwrist allows users to upload their own pics, and it’s easy to search and share them in your classroom.

4 DAYS AND COUNTING!!!  SPRING BREAK IS ALMOST HERE!  Have a great week!

Groupmaker

This is a great app for randomly calling on students in class.  The students will be so excited to see who is picked if you download this on your iPad and put it  up on the projector!  It will also group students for you either randomly or based on criteria that you enter.  You can also associate a picture with each student.  The best part is it’s FREE!
